Software Considerations

Most software listed here is available in the student computer labs located in the Monterey building 1.103B8 and 1.103B7. They are also available in the UTSA Virtual Desktop (UTSA MyAppsVDI).

Software Installation Resources

Adobe can be obtained free for UTSA students by following this link. - UTSA Student Software

Software: Many of the Autodesk software products are distributed freely to students through the Autodesk Education Community program to include AutoCAD, Revit, Civil3D and many more. To learn more about this program, obtain licenses and download installers follow this link -  Autodesk Education

Autodesk Design Academy: As students, faculty and staff of an educational institution you have full access to Autodesk Design Academy which provides many online tutorials, seminars and full courses covering a wide range topics related to Architecture, Interior Design, Construction, BIM, Engineering and many other concepts. Chaos Group provides to students a discounted subscription price of $149.00/per year for V-Ray EDU Collection. This price includes one version each (3ds Max, Sketchup, Revit, Rhino, etc.) of the product. - V-Ray EDU Collection

This suite of energy modeling applications for Windows or OS-X is available for download through the U.S. Department of Energy Plus Project website - EnergyPlus

ESRI offers provides ArcGIS Desktop & ArcGIS Pro for use for spatial analysis to students at universities. Ask your faculty member to request a free 1-year student license directly for ESRI at the following link - ESRI Software for Students

The eQuest Energy Simulation Tool is freely available for all and can be download from the US Department of Energy website - US Department of Energy

Google Earth is freely available 3D representation of Earth based on remote sensing imagery and data. It is available in both online and downloadable versions - Google Earth Online or Google Earth Pro

Office 365 – UTSA provides students Office 365 (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) for free allowing installation on up to 5 computers. Download & installation instructions can be obtained from the UTSA Student Software webpage - UTSA Student Software

Other – Microsoft provides other software (Project, etc.) as well as cloud services to students through their Azure for Students program. Activation of an account is required - Microsoft Azure for Students

On Screen Take Off and QuickBids installers may be obtained by students authorized by class instructors from the links provided below.

Password Required - A password provided by your instructor is required to uncompress the downloaded zip files.

Rhinoceros 7 3D modeler software is available for download from Robert McNeel & Associates for $195.00 - Rhino 3D 

A 90-day evaluation version is available. When this expires all plug-ins will stop working.
