MSA provides an excellent foundation with integrated hands-on applications for undergraduate and graduate-level courses and theses in the area of manufacturing, industrial and systems engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images-right alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/ceid.utsa.edu\/%7Ecastillo\/images\/facilities_4.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>The main areas of research are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Modeling and optimization of supply chain and logistics problems with applications in bioenergy, sustainability, defense, manufacturing and healthcare.<\/li>\n<li>Heuristics and metaheuristics for solving large-scale and complex engineering problems.<\/li>\n<li>Statistical Quality Control and Reliability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The MSA Laboratory was furnished with simulation, optimization and statistical software.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Simulation software: Promodel.<\/li>\n<li>Optimization software: GAMS.<\/li>\n<li>Statistical software: Minitab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images-right alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/ceid.utsa.edu\/%7Ecastillo\/images\/facilities_3.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>The following hardware was acquired: Dell Precision T7600N MT 1300W Workstation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operating System FreeDOS\u2122 Operating System.<\/li>\n<li>Processor Dual Eight Core XEON E5-2687W, 3.1GHz, 20M, 8.0 GT\/s, Turbo+.<\/li>\n<li>Memory 64GB, DDR3 RDIMM Memory, 1600MHz, ECC (8 x 8GB DIMMs).<\/li>\n<li>Graphics Dual 2.5GB NVIDIA\u00ae Quadro\u00ae 5000, QUAD MON, 4DP &amp;
