The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) offers a Master of Science Degree in Computer Engineering, a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. The Department also administers for College of Engineering the interdisciplinary Master of Science Degree Program in Advanced Materials Engineering.
The Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering is designed to offer students the opportunity to prepare for leadership roles in careers with industry, government, or educational institutions. Students enrolled in the M.S. degree program in Computer Engineering will have two different options to obtain their degree: (1) Thesis Option and (2) Nonthesis Option. A thesis option is offered for students who want the opportunity to obtain expertise in research and who may be interested in pursuing the doctoral degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering. The College of Engineering has recently established a new interdisciplinary graduate program, Master of Science (MS) in Advanced Materials Engineering (MatE). The graduate degree program is administered across departmental boundaries within the College of Engineering by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. It is designed to attract and accommodate applicants with either science or engineering college degrees wishing to study materials engineering to enhance their job positions or research/leadership potentials. Program for star Roadrunners (degree-seeking junior or senior) and alumni who have graduated within three years with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a minimum discipline GPA of 3.3 The VIP program is based on faculty nomination. The nomination serves as the highest form of recommendation for those students and alumni who demonstrate great academic potential and promise for success within the graduate program of interest.
