Faculty Positions in ECE Department at UTSA
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Texas, San Antonio (UTSA) invites applications for tenure-track faculty openings starting Fall 2023 in Hardware Security, Robotics, Bioinformatics, and AI Accelerator. By the time of hire, the successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related areas with outstanding academic credentials that clearly demonstrate their ability to conduct independent and successful research in their areas of expertise and to build cross-disciplinary research programs.
Job Description
Hardware Security: we invite applications from exceptional candidates in the areas of memory safety, side-channels, hardware roots of trust, formal verification of critical hardware, AI (Artificial Intelligence) and machine learning for hardware security, and other emerging areas that complement existing strengths within the Department. The candidate must have a strong understanding of state-of-the-art hardware-related security threats and countermeasures and their impacts across the hardware design. The design and prototyping of security solutions in the ASIC/FPGA at both IP and SoC levels is desired.
Robotics: we invite applications from exceptional candidates in all areas of robotics; specifically, mechanical design, automation, sensing, smart actuators, human centered robotics and automation, advanced control strategies, sensor fusion, learning and optimization, computer vision, and other emerging areas that complement existing strengths within the Department.
Bioinformatics: we invite applications from exceptional candidates in the areas of applications of Artificial Intelligence or machine learning techniques in research areas such as computational biology, systems biology, biomedical image analysis, and data engineering including data acquisition, storage, organization, analysis, or visualization, and other emerging areas that would complement existing strengths within the Department. The preferred candidate needs to demonstrate knowledge in cancer research, computational neuroscience, infectious disease, precision therapeutics, health disparities, and -omics data analysis.
AI Accelerator: we invite applications from exceptional candidates in the areas of designing new AI accelerators and custom hardware (e.g., digital accelerators, custom ASICs, mixed-signal chip design, emerging technologies) towards the development and deployment of lightweight, efficient AI models that can be executed on resource-constrained hardware and the support of rapid growth of models and reduction of overall carbon footprint. Researchers in this area will collaborate with the MATRIX AI Consortium researchers with expertise in AI devices, circuits, and architectures.
