Dr. Krystel K. Castillo<\/h1>\n

Dr. Castillo\u2019s research interest includes the production of second generation (energy crops, agricultural and forest residues) and third generation (algae) biofuels. Dr. Castillo mentors students in the following areas: the mathematical modeling of feedstock quality and supply variability; feedstock logistics; and bioenergy systems modeling, optimization and technology integration.<\/p>\n

Dr. Michael Persans<\/h1>\n

Dr. Persans is an expert on plant biology. He trains students on assessing freshwater and saltwater algal species ability to produce biofuels.<\/p>\n

Dr. DeYoe\u2019s laboratory focuses on freshwater and saltwater algal communities and their use as bio-indicators of water quality for agriculture.<\/p>\n

Dr. Cabrera-R\u00edos leads The Applied Optimization Group with a strong emphasis on multivariate statistics and multi-criteria systems optimization. This capability adds greatly to complex systems characterization, modeling and optimization efforts as they relate to the allocation and management of bioenergy resources.<\/p>\n

The UTSA Rural Business Program (RBP) of the Institute for Economic Development is a partner in the BE AWARE Network. UTSA RBP provides students with experiential learning and the opportunity to give back to their community by involving students in their current community planning and bioenergy for small farms projects and training.<\/p>\n

Alamo Colleges collaborate (since 2012 thro<\/a>ugh the UTSA TATE Program) by recruiting community college students who intent to transfer to UTSA for an intense 4-6 week summer camp with sessions in presentation skills, technical writing and group work held at the UTSA main campus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
