Abtin is a PhD candidate at University of Texas at San Antonio, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She comes from Iran and got her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at K.N.Toosi University of Technology in Tehran, her hometown. Growing up in middle of a metropolitan city in a developing country got her involved with critical environmental and water related issues. Better understanding the global water issues and finding sustainable adaptation and mitigation strategies became her motivation. She then pursued graduate studies and obtained her master’s degree in Hydro Sciences and Engineering at Dresden University of Technology, Germany. She is now majoring in water resources engineering and her research is focused on sustainable stormwater management practices including low impact development (LID) or green infrastructure.
