Dr. Ibukun Gabriel Awolusi is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Construction Science, The University of Texas at San Antonio. He holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Civil Engineering from The University of Alabama, an M.Sc. in Construction Management (with Distinction) and a B.S. in Building (with First Class Honors) from the University of Lagos. Prior to joining academia, Dr. Awolusi worked in the construction industry for several years where he managed the construction of various building and infrastructure projects.
Before assuming his current position, Dr. Awolusi worked on several research projects and taught courses at the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at The University of Alabama where he was honored with several prestigious awards for his outstanding achievements in teaching and research. Dr. Awolusi currently conducts research in the areas of construction safety, innovation and technology in construction, sustainable infrastructure, construction materials, construction education, and safety in manufacturing. Dr. Awolusi has published several peer-reviewed research articles addressing hazard mitigation strategies and accident prevention, safety leading indicators data collection and analysis, technology integration, innovation, and automation in construction safety. He is a reviewer for notable journals in the fields of civil engineering, construction management, and occupational safety and health.
