UTSA Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Kimberly Andrews Espy announced the promotion of 34 faculty members on August 31, 2018. The promotions were approved by the UT System Board of Regents earlier this month and are effective September 1, 2018.
Adel Alaeddini, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Arturo Montoya, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, were promoted to associate professor with tenure. Tenure is awarded to faculty who distinguish themselves in the areas of teaching; research, scholarship, or creative activities; service to the university and community; and who further demonstrate strong potential for continued excellence in these areas.
Ender Finol, Department of Mechanical Engineering, was promoted to full professor in recognition of sustained professional accomplishment.
“Our faculty are the drivers of innovation and creative discovery which will help propel UTSA to a new level of distinction,” said Espy. “These scholars are doing exceptional and meaningful work in their respective fields for the betterment of our students and our society.
