Security Analytics Lab

After working four years in Samsung on many interesting security projects especially in the areas of cloud computing, I joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UTSA as an assistant professor in December 2015. I obtained the Master and Ph.D. degrees from Purdue University under the supervision of Prof. Elisa Bertino. When pursuing my degrees I worked as a graduate professional for 5 years at RCAC (Rosen Center for Advanced Computing) developing secure grid computing systems.

My current area of research interesting is human immunology inspired security system for microservices. Implementing human immune system that learns and grows, in microservice-based system supports ordinary microservices by detecting and monitoring malicious packets and processes in distributed and collaborative way. Every components in the immune system will be based on analytics from deep learning, to identify attacks and recover from corruptions.
