Welcome to the Mechanics of Biological Materials/Structures Lab (MBMS)
The Mechanics of Biological Materials/Structures (MBMS) Lab focuses on research and on training students in the structure–mechanical behavior relationships of biological materials and structures at all length scales, from the molecular to the bulk level. Building on that understanding, we intend to develop effective strategies for fracture prediction and prevention in tissues such as bone for clinical application, and to extend the principles of the natural design of biological materials and structures to engineering applications.
